As you know I was stuck with a rental car for the weekend. Deciding to take it out on the weekend i quickly calculated how many km i could take the car without going over the limit. I quickly made up a route and decided to photograph some churches I had never visited.
I was surprised to find a rural church that was not only open but they had obviously had a service that morning. This was the most clean church i had seen in ages and was shocked it was open. A beautiful historic church with stained glass and well kept I was eager to photograph different parts of it. After finding this church and numerous abandoned farmyards and schools I found one more church to end of my trip. It was a very old rural church but locked up and not very photogenic.
Started my trip out by driving the valley and found this neat ice jam...
Now onto the trip...

hello rental
My car is in for repairs and I was supplied with a rental. The idea was to only have the rental for a couple days during the week - but the more damage they found the longer my repair was and before you know it I had the rental over the weekend. Since i was limited to the amount of KM I could go a day and had only stayed in the city so far I decided to take it out in the country.
Despite being the most gutless car I have ever driven with no turning ability - it did alright at least my car was getting a break from all the grids I take it down.
Pictures from the trip to follow.

wanted: congregation
Here are the interiors of some of the churches I visited this past weekend. Exteriors can be seen in my last post: spring fever. Despite some of these churches looking like they are about to fall about on the ouside the interiors were beautiful. Some of them had signs of animals living in them but for the most part it just looks like they left and never came back leaving all the churches belongings behind.

spring fever
I had originally planned to head out a few weeks ago but we got a dump of snow which put a halt to all my plans. Finally the snow is fading and the nice weather continues. I decided to head out and photograph some churches - mark some more off my list of ukrainian churches to see in the province. I had a route all planned out thinking it would be a short but rewarding trip.
As per all my trips this one was an all day event and I made it to every church but two. The giant snow drifts prevented me from reaching two of them but I did get to see most of them. Some churches were already gone - but this is the reality of it. These rural churches do not last - being closed and abandoned many years ago they don't last forever and each year I see more and more of them disappear.
Anyways, here are the exterior pictures of some of my favorite churches from the trip - not all but a few. The interior pictures will be in my next post.
